REAL ESTATE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM

Company Description:

The firm is a real estate fund manager that provides both debt and equity capital to a wide variety of opportunistic and value-oriented commercial real estate transactions.  The company invests throughout the United States in both single and multiple property transactions to support various value creation investment strategies including renovation and turnaround situations, distressed real estate acquisitions, and property development.

The manager’s investments are structured in numerous capital forms including direct and joint venture equity, preferred equity, mezzanine loans, and transitional first mortgages.  Since 1993, the firm has invested greater than $2.5 billion of capital in more than $13 billion of underlying commercial real estate on behalf of a diversified and highly regarded group of endowments, foundations, public and corporate pension plans, financial institutions, family offices, and sovereign entities.

Responsibilities:

The organization is seeking an Associate who will play a key role as a member of the firm’s origination team providing underwriting support for new equity and debt transactions for the firm’s various investment funds.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Supporting senior personnel on analytical and transactional aspects for an acquisition, including due diligence, market research, and preparation of investment committee materials.
  • Conducting on the ground due diligence to validate and support underwriting assumptions.
  • Preparing and evaluating Argus files and sophisticated Microsoft Excel models for investment opportunities and reporting to senior management on the viability of potential acquisitions and/or development opportunities across asset classes.
  • Ability to integrate multiple scenario analyses to determine pro forma sensitivity.
  • Managing the requisite third party reporting as part of the due diligence process, including engineering, environmental, market study, and tax
  • Interfacing with joint-venture partners, borrowers, lenders, and the brokerage community.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have broad-based analytical skills, superior capabilities in cash flow modeling, sound research abilities, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for candidates concentrating in real estate, finance and/or accounting.
  • Approximately 3 to 7 years of related experience with exposure to commercial real estate.
  • Exceptional financial analysis and modeling skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and Argus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Outstanding level of attention to detail, accountability, integrity, and ethics.
  • Self-motivated and energetic individual with strong oral and written communication skills.
