The Financial Analyst/Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A will be responsible for performing a myriad of analytical duties associated with operating a ~8,000-unit portfolio of multifamily properties. The duties include preparing monthly financial reporting, assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts, conducting site visits with asset managers, quarterly board materials, and ad hoc analysis and reporting.

What you will do:

  • The Financial Analyst/Sr. Financial Analyst will play a key role to the financial success of LivCor by gathering information from multiple sources and departments and processing and relaying pertinent information to the asset management team to effect change on-site within assigned market(s).
  • Perform detailed review of financial variance reports prepared by operating partners and utilize data mining to identify any operational or performance concerns and the underlying drivers. Proactively present findings to regional FP&A team.
  • Play a key role in providing reporting in a timely and accurate manner to asset managers, executive leadership and other key stakeholders as may be determined.
  • Complete “deep-dive” property assessment reports for at-risk assets not meeting budget and/or operational expectations.
  • Support the asset management team in preparation of monthly performance reviews with leadership and other functional teams
  • Execute LivCor’s annual budgeting and forecasting processes in conjunction with various functional groups (asset management, revenue management, strategic initiatives, marketing and operating partners).
  • Develop proficiency of the methodology and sourcing of data from various research and industry data publications including the RealPage suite of products (YieldStar, Performance Analytics, Investment Analytics, Axiometrics/MPF), Green Street, Real Capital Analytics, Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in whichever markets and submarkets are assigned including but not limited to job growth, supply growth, permits, absorption, rent growth, and occupancy.
  • Perform special ad hoc projects and analysis on a frequent basis.

 

What you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years (analyst level) and four (4) years (sr. analyst level) work experience in the accounting, finance and/or commercial real estate fields. Preferred experience may include asset management, operations, acquisitions, and due diligence. Analyst vs. Sr. Analyst title will be determined based on relevant experience.
  • Prior experience with real estate budgeting/forecasting processes and systems.
  • Strong work ethic: strength to thrive in a dynamic and demanding work environment, ability to meet critical deadlines, capable of critical self-reflection and honest assessment of performance, desire to learn and continued self-improvement, motivated by desire to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-confidence to lead a meeting and discuss financial results with executive leadership team or Blackstone asset management team.
  • Basic understanding of accounting (general ledger, trial balance, and capital policy) is a plus
