The Real Estate Associate position within Risk, Research & Analytics will provide an excellent introduction to the various aspects of an institutional real estate investment management department.  The position will allow for exploration of career options in the institutional commercial real estate equity investing, lending and investment management fields, while significantly enhancing personal credentials and building relationships with professionals in the industry. 

Key Responsibilities:  

• Analytical support for the Risk, Research & Analytics teams.
• Real estate market research, analysis and forecasting in support of investment decisions and portfolio strategy.
• Commercial mortgage risk assessment and bond-equivalent ratings.
• Commercial mortgage portfolio risk analysis and strategy development.
• Research and analyze global economic, commercial real estate fundamental and capital market conditions and trends.  Relate these trends to risks and opportunities for MetLife’s commercial real estate investment portfolio (mortgage loans and equity). 
• Real estate market analysis, market forecasting, valuation, valuation guidance and underwriting review.
• Construction of underwriting tools and benchmarks.
• Portfolio geographic, property type and borrower/tenant exposure analysis and reporting.
• Analyzing risk related to portfolio exposures to certain industries, companies, etc.
• Assist in communicating house view of market trends, risks and outlook via presentations and reports.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant real estate investment experience as a real estate analyst, appraiser, and/or mortgage underwriter.
• Candidate should have advanced analytical abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced work environment.

Preferred:

• Graduate degree in finance, economics, real estate or related fields.
• Working knowledge of Argus.
