Courage, yes courage, is the answer to “what is our top industry strength”. SelectLeaders Professional Association Job Network’s last Leadership Assessment also asked, what is our industry’s top hidden strength: keeping on point.  Development is a long time and our industry reports keeping on point is the secret to success. How do we describe our leadership style? We make the tough calls, and tough people calls. Developing emerging leaders is the new competitive advantage according to Odgers Berndtson, “There is an alarming shortage of C-suite talent, with millions of Baby Boomers approaching retirement. To add to this quandary, the next generation of leaders are stepping into their first executive roles 10 years before previous generations, and three roles early — as “premature leaders” — forcing employers to significantly accelerate their development.”  Performance ratings are situational with lots of external contributing factors and not the answer.
