POSITION SUMMARY: An established, fast-growing bank located in Boston is searching for an experienced real estate analyst to support its loan purchasing and national CRE and SBA lending platforms. The role will involve a fair amount of deal screening, generating a view on collateral quality, valuation and liquidity as they relate to loan parameters, advising senior management on this research, and preparing written analyses of real estate collateral for a variety of lending opportunities. The successful candidate will have experience in a fast-paced real estate investment or real estate lending environment, have high quality writing ability, and a general familiarity with national real estate markets, and accepted real estate valuation techniques. - Review business development opportunities (both new loan originations and loans available on the secondary market for purchase) and develop a summary view of collateral value, quality and liquidity; concisely and effectively communicate conclusions and make recommendations to senior management and business development officers
- Complete underwriting, appraisal reviews and valuation analysis on collateral securing loans in all business lines of the bank, and provide CRE expertise as part of a fully integrated, in house due diligence team
- Participate in discussions with senior management regarding loan opportunities; provide recommendations and expertise related to collateral securing loans being considered for purchase or origination
- Advise asset managers and other members of the loan underwriting team on real estate collateral issues and risks
- Complete site inspections on real estate collateral, as needed, in markets nationwide
- Assist in preparation of market studies, stress tests, and other analysis relating to the Bank s loan portfolio and/or potential opportunities, as well as maintain and update systems supporting the pipeline and asset management
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong research skills, both online and on the phone.
- Possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- BA/BS required.
- At least 2-3 years in a lending or real estate environment required, and formal bank credit training is preferred. The Bank will consider an enhanced role for a candidate with more experience.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Some travel is required.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
- Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
