This is a hands-on role in a small, growing organization.  This position participates in and oversees day-to-day operations of the accounting department, provides internal & external financial reporting and analysis, manages liquidity, assists in budgeting/forecasting, provides insights & recommendations on financial performance and opportunities for improvements across the department & BOC.  Acts as a leader within the organization and collaborates closely with the ELT to ensure a seamless financial reporting process.

Essential Functions:
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions (including AR, AP and payroll) to ensure system integrity
  • Coordinate, prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements
  • Lead the budget and forecast processes to provide accurate and timely reports to management and investors
  • Manage real estate development accounting, to include construction draws, land allocations, Opportunity Zone Funds and Investor fund accounting and reporting
  • Demonstrate and drive operational excellence in closing and reporting processes that provides timely and accurate information to management and investors
  • Drive business, finance and accounting literacy through continually improving processes, organizational capabilities, training and internal controls
  • Identify, assess and manage legal, regulatory and financial risk and identify concerns as appropriate to management on a proactive basis
  • Participate in pivotal discussions and provide feedback related to strategic initiatives and operational models that support short and long term objectives
  • Lead and ensure accounting practices and controls are effective and consistent across all business units
  • Assist in preparation and completion of tax filings
  • Maintain best practices by keeping current on applicable laws, guidance, standards and regulations
  • Review workloads and analyze staffing requirements to ensure a talent plan is in place to attract and retain top performers
  • Responsible for working with financial auditors
  • Assist with Ad doc requests as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • 10+ years of accounting experience required
  • CPA preferred
  • Real Estate Development and Project Coordinating background highly desirable
  • ERP system implementation experience a plus 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Organization and time management, ability to consistently meet deadlines despite conflicting and changing priorities 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, as appropriate for the needs of varying audiences
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and reach common goals with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
  • Self-directed, takes initiative to establish and/or modify processes when needed
  • Computer literate including the use of Outlook 365, the Microsoft Office Suite, the internet, and other software programs as required.
  • Experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Rent Manager a plus
