POSITION SUMMARY:  As an analyst you will be exposed to and develop expertise in all functional areas of production, relationship management, deal screening, real estate analysis, underwriting and asset management and come out with a solid understanding of the bank’s National Lending platform. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Relationship Management & Deal Screening

The analyst will help source, on-board and manage originated commercial real estate loans and work closely with the Business Development and Real Estate teams to review potential loan opportunities. The role will involve prescreening new loan opportunities to be presented for approval to the Chief Credit Officer, usher deals through the underwriting process, act as a liaison between the Bank and borrower, underwrite Lender Finance borrowers, and communicate with borrowers and strategic partners.

Real Estate Analysis

The analyst will contribute to all aspects to commercial real estate activities at the bank and be closely involved in due diligence related to collateral securing new loan opportunities, both purchased and originated. The role will primarily involve the valuation of commercial real estate, across all property types and geographies, with a heavy emphasis on evaluating and synthesizing file information, research, and conclusions in a written format, as well as modeling real estate cash flows and researching relevant sale activity to estimate values for commercial real estate collateral.

Loan Underwriting

The analyst will underwrite new purchased and originated loan opportunities for the bank and work closely with the Real Estate and Legal teams to aggregate findings into a cohesive credit memo to be presented to senior management for approval. The role will involve reviewing and evaluating the strength of the borrower and overall credit and arriving at a conclusion that will inform the bank’s pricing (in the case of a purchased loan), loan structure (for an originated loan) and risk rating.

Asset Management

The analyst will manage an assigned portfolio of loans and be responsible for maintaining all aspects of loan performance. The role will involve maintaining contact with the bank’s borrower, monitoring, and resolving payment issues, conducting written analysis of loan status on a regular basis, and negotiating modifications and extensions to protect the bank from loss. Asset managers also help generate income for the bank via loan pre-payments, where appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong track record of performance and leadership.
  • Relevant summer internships in a financial services or lending environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial statements.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Team orientation with a desire to learn and improve.
  • Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Company.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Work unpredictable hours including Saturday.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
  • Consistently operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
  • Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
  • Must express or exchange ideas with co-workers, supervisors, customers and vendors.
