Development Analyst

The Missner Group, LLC ("TMG") is seeking a high-energy, self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to be an Analyst within our real estate development team. The primary responsibilities of the position will be related to the analysis related to the underwriting of the organization’s development investments. Candidates will have the opportunity to join a growing, well-established organization where they will gain exposure to all aspects of industrial/commercial real estate transactions and development.

The position will include working closely with the development team and equity partners to assist in evaluating new development and investment opportunities. Duties will include but not be limited to underwriting development costs, income, and value analysis, investment memos, and researching the market and demographic data in addition to due diligence and comparable property analyses, among other related tasks and analysis. Other responsibilities include providing presentation material to municipalities for zoning and entitlements, creating and managing pre-development checklists, budgets, and tracking sheets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary areas of focus include:

• Investment/development underwriting and financial analysis
• Due diligence, market analysis, and reviewing third-party due diligence reports
• Aid in the flow of information for entitlements and zoning
• Market, economic and demographic research to evaluate markets and the competitive set of properties for potential investments.
• Valuations of properties under development and in the current property portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a major in finance, real estate, or accounting.
• Ideal candidate will have 0 to 3 years of experience working with a real estate company, an equity fund, or a financial services firm.
• Located in Chicago or willing to relocate within the next 3 months.
• Undergraduate candidates with relevant intern experience will also be considered. 

• Basic understanding of real estate investment and financing processes including, but not limited to, market analysis, financial analysis, property valuation, and capital markets.
• Advanced Excel modeling capabilities and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
• Team player, who works well with others, is proactive, and self-directed, and assumes accountability and responsibility for specific performance and work product.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to grow within the role and take increased responsibility
