Job Description:


The Analyst position will primarily support IDS’ Real Estate Investment Management division, which oversees more than $2 billion in assets across its various institutional investment platforms. Responsibilities will focus on asset management, fund management, and acquisition underwriting and due diligence.

Workflow is organized around a team-driven process, and learning and growth is expected in all areas of real estate investing and finance. Experience has demonstrated that the candidates that “fit” best within the system engage in a manner that emphasizes curiosity, accountability, teamwork, humility and a strong work ethic. Areas of engagement vary with client priorities, but generally tend to be more broad than narrow.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Asset/Portfolio ManagementPerform various analyses for properties in the IDS investment portfolio. Assist with the formulation of memorandums and consents for acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and leasing. Assist with portfolio reporting requirements, including annual investment plans and monthly and quarterly financial reports. Collaborate with third-party valuation consultant and appraisers to value existing assets on a quarterly basis.

 

Acquisitions Support REIM division with the general underwriting process, including exposure to sensitivity, scenario, and yield analyses. Organize and maintain a record of prospective acquisitions, including underwritten assumptions and sale data, in order to assess relative value of reviewed investment opportunities. Assist with procuring, interpreting, and synthesizing due diligence materials for potential investments.

 

Qualifications:


This position is an ideal role for a candidate interested in developing a diverse understanding of real estate private equity in a performance driven environment. Qualifications include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or similar focus of study.
  2. Strong interest in real estate and real estate finance with a desire to learn the business.
  3. 1-2 years of commercial real estate and/or finance experience preferred.
  4. Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  5. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  6. Aptitude for financial analysis including DCF, IRR, TWR and promoted interests.
  7. Proficiency with Excel, familiarity with Argus preferred.
  8. A professional, team-oriented attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  9. Strong critical thinking, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Highly organized and detail-oriented; candidates should be able to handle multiple projects for various management styles to meet deadlines while maintaining a high quality standard of work.
  11. High level of intellectual curiosity.
