POSITION SUMMARY

Dedicated to innovative placemaking, The Howard Hughes Corporation owns, manages, and develops award-winning master planned communities, as well as operating properties and development opportunities including: The Seaport in New York; Downtown Columbia®, Maryland; The Woodlands®, The Woodlands Hills®, and Bridgeland® in the Greater Houston, Texas area; Summerlin®, Las Vegas; Douglas Ranch®, Phoenix and Ward Village® in Honolulu, Hawaii.

 

We are currently creating a “Regional Finance” department to house a team of Four full-time professionals, dedicated to supporting the regional presidents in all financial matters and located in their respective regions. This department will report to the Chief Financial Officer for standardization, training, and compliance, but it is expected to be largely independent as its main focus will be to support the regional presidents across their business segments.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the monthly analysis of each region’s results, including all related documentation (Team 7 analysis).
  • Lead the regional budget preparation, reforecasting, and monthly budget versus actual analysis.
  • Continually analyze future cash flows, including loan draws and intercompany activity, in coordination with development, property management, and MPC teams.
  • Liaise with our Head of Sustainability and support the respective region’s data collection and analysis for Environmental, Social, and Governance purposes.
  • Coordination with accounting and FP&A for monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of Capital Allocation Committee and Board Approval memorandums.
  • Assist Financial Reporting with the documentation and review of MD&A.
  • Create and maintain a combined monthly reporting package for each region, using existing reports as a starting point and working directly with the regional Presidents to identify the most relevant reports and analysis.
  • Support the Regional Presidents in all financial matters.
  • Act as the subject matter experts at their respective regions for Adaptive, Argus, Hubble, and JDE.
  • Lead or coordinate regional training events on all financially significant applications, such as those mentioned above, as well as Coupa and Workday.
  • Coordinate the execution of internal and external audit work, as directed or requested by the segment controllers.

 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance etc.
  • MBA/CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in real estate finance, planning and analysis.
  • Deep experience/understanding of real estate finance, economics and asset management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively as part of a team.
  • Self-starter and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to share information and documents that aid business leaders to effectively manage their respective businesses.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast paced and growth-oriented environment.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Good problem solver/creative thinker.
  • “Lean-In” attitude, pro-active and resourceful.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP system.
  • Experience with Hubble reporting and Blackline are a plus
  • Real estate industry experience.
  • Highly proficient in MS office applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
