The business runs an impressive portfolio of Class A office, retail, and mixed-use assets across major US markets and
also has major holdings in the Southwest.
We are recruiting a new Chief Financial Officer who will help lead the business through its next phase of growth and expansion.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the CFO will lead and oversee all financial functions with the support of a strong accounting and finance team.
Key Functions: Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Reporting Risk Management, Legal Review and Litigation, and corporate function e.g. Human Resources and Information Technology.
He/She will manage a team that includes a Chief Accounting Officer, Controller, Manager of Taxation, and Manager of IT.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead in the preparation of regular quarterly, annual, and special reports in a format that provides timely, accurate, and insightful information for the Executive Committee.
- Evaluate the structure and capabilities of the current accounting and finance department and, if needed, transition to an optimized and more efficient structure.
- Contribute to the growth of the organization by providing accurate consistent financial information that allows senior management to focus on investing and operating properties.
- Interact regularly with the Executive Committee and provide input on business issues, opine and advise on key transactions, business strategy, and operating performance.
- Lead, manage, and mentor the accounting and finance team and represent the business as a senior financial executive.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have at least 15 + years of professional experience, with some senior financial officer/ management experience with a real estate owner/operator or other relevant experience with a real estate investment firm.
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of the four basic food groups and a variety of deal structures and implications.
It's also important that the CFO is capable of working effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment and working with ownership.
The CFO should have a passionate and focused leadership style to inspire a high level of business performance. He/She will be a detail-oriented, hard-working professional with an excellent financial and internal control orientation alongside a strategic mindset. This executive should demonstrate the self-confidence to share his/her point of view on a variety of issues while respecting and buying into the ultimate decision. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Hands-on leader with experience in Finance, Risk Management, Legal Review and Litigation, Treasury, Tax, Accounting, Reporting, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and IT.
- Overall financial and competent real estate transaction knowledge and experience to take and defend a position.
- Hands-on approach with strong leadership, management, team building, and interpersonal skills.
- Likable with an approachable style; an individual who truly enjoys people and working on a team. .
- Ambitious in her/his pursuit and a desire to be a part of helping to grow and expand a great business.
- CPA or master’s in accounting or Finance or MBA preferred.
- This position will require occasional US travel.
