Firm Overview:
 Pelorus Equity Group, Inc. (“Pelorus”) is an institutional cannabis focused real estate investment management firm based in Newport Beach, CA and New York, NY. The firm has a mortgage REIT focused on construction, bridge, value-add, and stabilized lending to cannabis real estate owners. Pelorus is the longest running commercial real estate debt provider in the cannabis space. Since 2016 Pelorus has closed over $350MM cannabis related loans. The main fund has approximately $280MM in AUM and has been growing rapidly. Pelorus was the first private cannabis mortgage REIT/debt fund to close a corporate bond in the space. The firm has spent considerable time and resources developing data analytics in the cannabis space and has founded its own data company.
 
Pelorus is looking for a highly qualified, talented, teamwork-oriented, self-starter analyst to join our team and support growth. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing company in an exciting new real estate sector. The ideal candidate will have a year or two of real estate underwriting experience from a debt and/or equity perspective. They will have excellent modeling capabilities in excel and have experience analyzing multiple property types. This person will play a key role on a small team completing due diligence and assisting with the closing of transactions.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing due diligence, market research and coordinating with third party service providers
  • Analyzing pro forma statements, balance sheets and operating statements
  • Modeling corporate equity structures, corporate valuations, and warrants
  • Deal management through the entire deal cycle of a transaction: term sheet to closing 
  • Participate in client calls and loan documents negotiations with legal teams
  • Play key role in developing internal processes as the fund continues to grow
Qualifications:
  •  Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution
  • 1-2 years of experience at a debt fund, private equity firm, commercial real estate brokerage, investment bank or other real estate finance company
  • Advanced financial analysis and modeling skills both for real estate and corporate underwriting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for learning new things
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience organizing and managing large data sets, programming in VBA and SQL a plus
