Description
The Analyst will have the opportunity to assist in all aspects related to the investment management of Starwood’s rapidly growing single family rental portfolio. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing business plans with assistance from property managers, monitoring and reporting performance on a nationwide portfolio of single family rentals, identifying potential issues and creating appropriate recommendations.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Generating property and portfolio valuations and return analyses;
- Conducting portfolio assessments/financial analysis and making recommendations based on results;
- Partnering across functions including acquisitions, property management, portfolio management, joint venture partners and accounting to drive the investment performance of Starwood’s SFR portfolio;
- Monitoring business plan performance and adjusting go-forward strategy based on market conditions;
- Developing internal data infrastructure and dashboard tools;
- Creating financial models;
- Working with internal and external teams to implement process improvements that create additional value;
- Providing assistance to key internal team members by answering questions and helping with requests as needed;
- Performing a number of functions regularly, including reporting on the SFR portfolio on an ongoing basis and handling complex debt facilities.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred, including: real estate acquisitions, asset management, strategy/operations
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Development and/or real estate cash flow modeling experience
- Strong quantitative and technical/computer skills (including strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint)
- A true self-starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision
- Practical knowledge of VBA
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business or related area and/or an MBA in real estate or finance
