Department Overview

The Capital Strategies & Formation (“CSF”) team at DivcoWest is responsible for all institutional fundraising activity, management of existing institutional partnerships, and development of new strategic capital initiatives. The team also engages across the firm’s programmatic separate accounts, co-investments and deal-specific capital opportunities, working closely with the Investment and Portfolio Management teams. 

 

About the Role

The Associate Director will help manage the firm’s existing relationships, while also conducting business development for new investors and multi-strategy fundraising. DivcoWest is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual who works well in a team-oriented environment and has demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Investor Communication - direct correspondence, management of investor requests, and engagement through in-person meetings and other regular dialogue
  • Fundraising and Investor Outreach - existing and prospective
  • Team Management - oversight of junior team members to ensure timely and polished responses to DDQs and RFPs
  • Project Management - manage execution of initiatives around new product launches  

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with DivcoWest’s institutional client base and establish new relationships for future partnership opportunities
  • Serve as a key contact for information requests (ad hoc, operational, diligence, etc.) and collaborate with internal team members to ensure timely completion
  • Organize and participate in meetings and calls with limited partners domestically and internationally
  • Work directly with the Head of CSF, Marketing, and Senior Leadership to establish strategies and content that reflect the goals of new products and other firm initiatives
  • Collaborate with the firm’s Investor Reporting team to ensure completion of outstanding investor inquires and requests
  • Manage junior team member’s time and serve as a resource for coaching and guidance
  • Oversee the production and maintenance of marketing materials for prospective and existing products including pitch books, asset and portfolio updates, case studies, tear sheets, private placement memorandums and other materials as requested

 

Skills & Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in capital raising and/or investor relations
  • Graduate degree preferred. Undergraduate degree required (ideally in business)
  • Strong knowledge of real estate fundamentals, industry, and market trends
  • Ability to work efficiently in a deadline driven environment
  • Familiarity and ability to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Leadership and project management qualities
  • Attention to detail, high level of initiative and strong work ethic
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a proven ability to problem-solve in time-critical environments
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to work effectively with both local and remote team members
  • Willingness to travel monthly and potentially weekly during active capital raises
  • Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus
