Senior Land Development Manager Position Description

Description of the Position:

Description of the Position: As the Senior Land Development Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of a business plan to entitle and develop raw land primarily into income-producing RV parks and resorts but potentially other uses such as manufactured housing communities, self-storage, or multifamily, primarily in the Houston MSA.  Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, and with support and guidance from third-party expert consultants, you, with assistance from one or more local project managers, will initially oversee seven current RV development projects, understanding the scope and scale of the overall development plan will increase rapidly over time.  In order to be successful in this role, you must be able to support and communicate clearly and concisely within the team, have a solid understanding of land development protocols and processes, how to effectively communicate with relevant governing bodies to proactively keep developments moving forward, think critically and be able to make informed decisions, and remain consistently organized with all permitting and approval related items. 

 

 

 

Responsibilities of the Position:

The Senior Land Development Manager shall be responsible for the following activities relating to the land development management of the Properties:

  • Manage aspects, disciplines, and orderly program of land development process;
  • Prepare land development opinions of probable cost, proformas, budgets and schedules detailing the Properties;
  • Coordinate the workflow and activities of project land development field operations;
  • Review design documents, site plans, improvements plans and plats/tract and parcel maps for accuracy;
  • Manage contracting program for land development subcontractors and monitor progress;
  • Coordinate with Construction Contractor for infrastructure (utilities, off-site improvements etc.) installation and insure timely inspections and completions;
  • Review and consolidate work projects to ensure that they are of high quality, cohesive and responsive to Project needs and goals;
  • Coordinate activities on multiple projects on a daily basis;
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies when preparing, modifying or obtaining approval of land plans and oversee all applicable local approval and plan check review related to the development, construction and build out of the Properties;
  • Interface with local code enforcement officials and other agency staff;
  • Manage and oversee engineers, architects, contractors and other consultants in the design and planning of project including all infrastructure related to the development of the Properties, including but not limited to subdivisions, roadways and grading, sanitary and sewer mains, electrical, gas, telecommunications and other utilities, and as required;  
  • Manage and oversee engineers, architects and contractors in the design, construction, site development, build out and other improvements of the Properties;
  • Provide such other services related to the development of the Properties as Company reasonably requires

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum seven years of experience with raw land development including presentation of projects to local authorities for Staff approval with proven success
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Texas project approval and permitting process
  • Understanding of market and industry trends
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and reporting skills
