MLL Capital is a Boston-based commercial real estate firm focused on medical office, laboratory and life science properties across the United States. MLL pursues core, value-add and opportunistic investments where it creates value through strategic capital investment, active management, and detailed repositioning plans with a strong focus on targeted leasing.

The primary role of the Controller entails managing the firm s accounting internal and external reporting functions. It is anticipated that this role will grow over time from a part time position to a full time position - depending upon the candidate s performance and capabilities - as the company grows.

While the position will be based in Boston, qualified candidates will be afforded the opportunity to maintain a flexible schedule and be provided with remote working opportunities.

 

Specific responsibilities of the Controller include:

  • Development and oversight of the accounting department of the company, which is currently 100% outsourced
  • Internal reporting to the company s executives and board of directors
  • External reporting to principal investors
  • Oversight of 3rd party service providers (Audit, Tax, IT)
  • Coordination and review of tax returns and schedule K-1s
  • Oversight and review of externally prepared financial reports and statements; preparation of miscellaneous internal reports.
  • Assisting with coordination of asset closings and providing funding and supporting documentation to title companies
  • Oversight of certain asset-level property management activities
  • Reviewing / updating current accounting and treasury policies and procedures
  • Assisting in various due diligence activities for transactions

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills
  • Undergraduate accounting degree
  • Public accounting/audit experience; CPA preferred
  • Internal controls experience
  • Real estate accounting experience; commercial office / industrial accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with IT accounting systems; implementation experience a plus
