We are looking for a motivated and evident self-starter to join our team as a senior accountant. The ideal candidate has experience in both property and fund accounting, with an emphasis on the former.

As a part of the Hudson team, you will have the opportunity to: work and build relationships with people from all corners of the company and the industry, including management, property managers, and lenders; be an integral part of real-time high-volume real estate transactions; travel; excel and grow within the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review of property-level financials and quarterly fair value reporting.
• Review and reconcile monthly asset trial balances prepared by property managers and prepare adjusting journal entries as required.
• Review monthly property management General Ledgers for classification accuracy.
• Complete review of monthly property management reports, including identification of variances to operating budgets and capital expenditure budgets. Work with Asset Managers to identify source/explanation of variances.
• Prepare quarterly financial reports for submission to lenders for assets (form 1116s).
• Prepare quarterly financial reports for investors.
• Assist as needed to issue capital calls, distributions, and setting up deal structures in Yardi and Juniper Square (Investment Management Software).
• Assist in ongoing management of cash for all properties.
• Ensure period accruals are accurate.
• Assist with quarterly reporting packages for each property, preparing custom same-store sales reports, Yardi roll-up combined property reports, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in the maintenance of General Ledgers and partners’ capital accounts (Yardi roll-up rule function) for 80+ legal entities and over 450+ book capital accounts.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects, including build-out of Yardi investment management and Yardi Job-cost.
• Cross-over function with asset management team participating various weekly calls with regionals & community managers.

Relevant Skill Sets and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
• 4-6 years of experience, ideally in property accounting. Additional experience in fund accounting is a plus.
• Project Management/Group Leader experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting.
• Solid experience in preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Strong ability to organize, stratify and present data in a concise and understandable manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
• CPA status is not necessary but is a plus.
• This position requires a motivated self-starter who is hands-on and thrives on multi-tasking. The candidate is also highly detailed oriented with sound business acumen.

The position is currently remote, but office attendance will be required once it is safe to congregate together.
