We are recruiting a Senior Associate-Finance to work with a renowned real estate developer which builds and operates high quality apartment communities in desirable locations across the East and West Coasts. It is recognized as one of the nation’s largest multifamily developers and general contractors.  The position will be based in Washington, DC. Key responsibilities include assisting the VP-Finance in sourcing, negotiating, closing, and managing debt and equity financing for properties in the Eastern Region.  

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Associate-Finance will assist the VP-Finance with sourcing, negotiating, closing and managing debt financing and with the closing and financial oversight of equity commitments for the firm’s Eastern U.S. development communities.  More specifically, they will:

 

  • Assist the Finance team with developing and maintaining relationships with providers of equity and debt financing
  • Assist the VP-Finance with sourcing, negotiating and closing debt and equity financing for East Coast assets
  • Assist VP-Finance with sourcing and closing permanent debt for unsold assets
  • Assist the Finance team with refinancing conversations with equity partners
  • Provide debt and equity information to Asset Management as requested and work with them to track interim property tests, equity burn offs, loan extensions and other information required to monitor portfolio properly and proactively
  • Assist development in preparing debt and equity financing strategies by providing financial comparisons of the cost/benefits of each through excel modeling
  • Write Management Committee Meeting memos as requested and review all memos for accuracy regarding East Coast assets
  • Assist the VP-Finance in managing third party legal resources to ensure equitable coverage across the region
  • Assist with sale of development assets
  • Travel required

     CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Minimum of 4 years of finance experience with at least two years of direct experience negotiating and closing real estate debt financing
  • Multi-family experience preferred
  • Current relationships with banks and other providers of debt financing
  • Strong analytical skills and keen detail orientation
  • Negotiating experience with capital sources
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to develop, communicate and focus on critical issues in complex financial situations
  • Strong team player who can work across a firm organized along both functional and geographic lines
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA preferred
  • Uncompromising personal integrity
  • Tenacious in meeting deadlines; strong sense of urgency; outstanding ability to self-manage
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage through conflict and positively influence results
  • Comfort level working in demanding, and occasionally high- pressured environment
