REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT – ASSET MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

Vanke US (New York City)

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have some experience and knowledge across the breadth of the real estate development and/or investment industry, including acquisitions, asset management, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, due diligence, etc.  This position will work in a bi-coastal team environment ultimately reporting to the Director of Investments.  Job title and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently;
  • Candidate must be a self-starter as senior management is often travelling;
  • Candidate must be comfortable with new concepts and have the ability to quickly learn issues regarding international fund flows (prior knowledge is not a requirement, just the ability to learn quickly);
  • Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with team members and management of joint venture partner companies;
  • Candidate must be comfortable working in a small team environment with a start-up atmosphere;
  • Candidate must have advanced knowledge Microsoft Excel particularly in modeling development projects and waterfall returns;
  • Candidate must have strong PowerPoint and Word experience for preparation of investment committee presentations;
  • Candidate must have strong Argus skills;
  • Candidate should have 1-2 years of experience.

Responsibilities:

Selected candidates will focus primarily on acquisitions and asset management of portfolio properties.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in transaction underwriting and due diligence material collection and organization;
  • Assist in financial modeling and analysis, including acquisition and investment return and waterfall models;
  • Coordinate deal sourcing and transaction screening tasks;
  • Maintain relationships with broker, developers, lawyers and other intermediaries;
  • Assist in investment pipeline management;
  • Coordinate with other departments within Vanke on due diligence and ongoing asset management;
  • Assist in preparation of investment committee materials;
  • Real estate market research;
  • Working closely with joint venture partners and third-party property managers to maximize performance of investments;
  • Assist with asset management/development, prepare monthly portfolio review, quarterly and annual reports on property performance forecast, asset valuations, along with progress on new development and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare annual property operating budgets and business plans;
  • Assist in preparing internal memo/ investment committee packages to seek authorization for capital investment/ expenditures to initiate development.
