Data Center Technician ICT (Night Shift)

• _{The ability to perform work independently is required:}
• _{Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage if applicable.}
• _{Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management.}
• _{Prepare and coordinate and receive incoming shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received. Receipt SRM.}
• _{Perform remote hands support e.g. power cycles, physical equipment and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, testing of copper and fiber cables, handle storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands.}
• _{Perform hardware installations - rack / stack.}
• _{Perform cable installations (routing, terminating) and testing.}
• _{Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting Support Service Manager processes (e.g. Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets.}
• _{Support Power Maintenance Events (PME) - active involvement in the planning through an assigned role.}
• _{Track and maintain adequate sparing levels.}
• _{Perform physical audits and ensure the Service Manager database is updated and accurate.}
• _{Collaborate and maintain business relationships in order to meet and exceed client expectations with respect to business as usual and project activities.} 

• _{Ability to learn new technologies with an interest in expanding and applying this knowledge as new emerge.}
• _{Able to lift 50 lbs.}
• _{Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office suite, especially Word and Excel.}
• _{Thorough understanding of cabling best practices (EIA/TIA-568 standards).}
• _{Thorough understanding of IT hardware skills (HP, Cisco, etc.). Working knowledge of network cabling diagnostics and testing practices.}
• _{Good understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts e.g. TCIP, switches, routers, vLANs.}
• _{General understanding of the concepts of electrical theory with respect to hardware installations e.g. single phase, 3 phase, amperage, receptacle types.}

• _{2+ years of experience as a data center technician or similar discipline in a data center mission critical environment.}
• _{Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.}
• _{Ability to complete tasks and deliverables within expected timelines}
• _{Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to details, and willingness to learn and be methodical about following procedures.}
• _{Able to work independently as a part of a larger team in a global organization.}
• _{Able to multitask in high pressure situations and take ownership of project / tasks from planning, deployment, and post-deployment support.}

• _{High School diploma or equivalent.}
• _{2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.}

_{Ability and willingness to work shifts (day, evening, overnight, and weekend) and provide on-call support on a rotational basis.}

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

  

Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

  

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  

Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
